This past weekend we held an event where those curious about investigating the paranormal could purchase tickets to investigate two cemeteries in two nights. We had a great turnout and it’s always amazing letting people experience what investigating is actually like. If you’re interested, keep an eye on our socials for upcoming events!

There’s a special energy and atmosphere at a cemetery. It is hallowed ground, a space that you have an instinct to respect as a human. So when you pull into this cemetery, immediately this innate energy is coupled with just how tranquil the site is. It’s heavily forested, even throughout the cemetery itself. You really feel sheltered from the elements here. The thick trees block the wind. The pines supply their special scent to the place, and their needles make the ground soft.

I’ve always found the energy here inviting. To most people, describing investigating a cemetery after dark as relaxing isn’t exactly something they can relate to, but it’s honestly the truth. It’s quiet, peaceful. Everyone is focused on being respectful.

On this particular night, the weather was warmer, and the wind was calm. Being in the middle of summer, that meant that the mosquitos were awful. Luckily, Haileigh and her father, Jeff, packed a can of bug spray that we could use. Without that, it would have been dreadful. Honestly, it still was. The scariest thing in that cemetery that night was the mosquitos, that’s for sure. Oh, and the silver dollar-sized spider that Haileigh found.

We didn’t have much in the way of personal experiences, but our spirit box session was more interesting than usual. Mike purchased a brand new spirit box, something we’d been meaning to do for a very long time. This night we had multiple voices coming through the spirit box, which isn’t immediately impressive to me. If you’re not familiar with how it works, it’s basically a radio that’s capable of switching between channels multiple times a second. Supposedly, spirits can communicate through this process somehow. Among other things in the paranormal, we aren’t sure how, and truth be told, I am not a huge fan of the device.

What does excite me, however, is when the same voice comes through the spirit box for more than two syllables. On two separate occasions, a lower voice came through the device and said four words or syllables. Being that the spirit box cycles through about 5 stations a second, it would be impossible for the same voice on a transmitting radio station to say that many words at once. That definitely got me excited, and I can’t wait to see if we can make out what the voice said in our review of the recording.

If you haven’t investigated a cemetery, I would highly recommend it; only if you get permission first. Seriously, do NOT trespass. It only gives the paranormal field a bad name and ensures other investigators who actually mean well won’t get a chance to investigate.

We look forward to returning to this location in the future! We always have a nice time investigating.
